It appears to be working (!) The alias "IKM MIDI OUT" appeared in the MIDI Out field of the MIDI track of each song that I had updated on my desktop and the IKM Axe I/O Solo seems to be getting the MIDI messages. I edited (some of) my desktop projects to reflect the (new) MIDI alias output label, saved 'em and then transferred the whole mess to the laptop. I found out about an hour ago that creating a global MIDI I/O Port alias in REAPER Preferences does not automatically percolate this update into each project - in retrospect this is probably a reasonable behavior. Thank you! I did a little more research and thought that perhaps a MIDI Pipe might do the trick. Yes, I do appreciate the suggestion, Fergler. ![]() Besides that, you can also do all sorts of fun stuff with the MIDI if needed. They will still function if one or the other is disabled, but Reaper won't see any changes. My recommendation would be to use an application like Loopbe1 on windows or MIDIPipe on Mac to aggregate your two devices. There is a hardware ID that it is concerned with, not the name. From my understanding MIDI devices don't work that way.
